What is Pharmacotherapy and how can it help with treating addiction
Evidence Based and Proven Techniques
Pharmacotherapy
A valuable tool in treatment
Pharmacotherapy, or medication treatment, can be a powerful tool in the fight against addiction. These targeted drugs help manage withdrawal symptoms, curb intense cravings, and even block the effects of certain substances. By reducing the discomfort of quitting and minimizing the appeal of drug use, pharmacotherapy sets you up for success. It's a proven, effective way to regain control over your life and leave addiction behind.
At Sobriety.ca Foundation, we take care of all of you while you stay with us—mind, body, and soul. We have taken care to staff our drug and alcohol rehab center with the appropriate caring personnel. With our resident nurse, weekly visits from our local physician, and a consulting psychiatrist, we are fully equipped to take care of all your health needs while you break free of your alcohol or drug addiction.
Our comprehensive drug rehab program includes medical treatments to supplement and, at times, support your psychotherapy. Our addiction treatment program will always center on psychotherapy, and cognitive behavioural therapy specifically. All of our therapists and counsellors are trained in psychology and addictions, each with a master’s degree or higher, from accredited US and Canadian institutions. Our therapeutic approach focuses on individual and group psychotherapy for drug rehab, along with a variety of alternative drug addiction treatments to suit your needs.
Our medical treatments include Bupropion, DHEA, Methadone, and Suboxone.
Drugs and Alcohol: Medical Interventions
However, as much as total abstinence is our ultimate goal for each of our clients, we also recognize that this can be harder for some to achieve. We recognize that, at times, there may be a need to supplement your psychotherapeutic program with medical interventions. This means that, where deemed appropriate, our doctor can prescribe medications to help control your cravings.
Both our physicians and psychotherapists are experienced in adapting our drug addiction program to incorporate medical interventions to achieve the maximum benefit from your rehabilitation experience. Our physician is licensed to prescribe methadone, suboxone, and others.
Drug or Alcohol Addictions & Dual-Diagnosis
With a consulting psychiatrist, Sobriety Home Drug & Alcohol Rehab Center is also equipped to handle dual-diagnosis patients. Often drug or alcohol addiction is a result of a pre-existing psychological condition such as: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety, and depression to name just a few. Working with a consulting psychiatrist allows us to treat both conditions simultaneously. This is especially important due to the inherent interplay of addiction and psychological disorders. Research shows that many adults can suffer from anxiety or depression, which leads to an over-dependence on substances like drugs or alcohol.
Physician Support for Drug or Alcohol Recovery
The local physician visits Sobriety Home Drug Rehab Center, giving each of our resident clients a weekly consultation. This allows us to monitor your overall health as you continue through your process to sobriety. As well, our on-site registered nurse is there for any immediate issues allowing us to care for all your health needs. This also allows us to provide on-site, medically supervised alcohol or drug detoxification.
